Lead times
Lead times can vary depending on the type of service you require and how busy we are.
Typical lead times:
Basic flat rear sprockets upto 280mm in diameter can be manufactured and supplied in 2 to 3 weeks
Gearbox/Engine and most small sprockets can be manufactured and supplied in 2 to 3 weeks
Gearbox/Engine and most small sprocket retoothing can be completed and returned in 2 to 3 weeks
Brake drum sprocket retooths can be completed and returned in 2 to 3 weeks
These lead times are only meant to give you a rough idea of how long it can take for a job to be sent to you. The lead times will vary from time to time, and sometimes can be shorter or longer, although we do try to keep within these times.
If you require a sprocket in a short period of time, we may be able to help, but this will be at an additional cost. The extra cost isn’t a “Tax”, it is purely to cover any extra costs that we may incur as a result of getting the work done quickly. Very often, to get jobs done quickly, we have to change our schedule, and break down a machine set up just to fit the job in, and then re set it to carry on with the schedule.
Costs
When working with one off type engineering, it is virtually impossible to have set prices. We have to cost a sprocket based on the work required, and the amount of material needed.
We also have to consider the time spent designing and setting up the machines to carry out various different procedures at the different stages of the sprocket’s production.
The cost to purchase a special sprocket will naturally be considerably more than purchasing an off the shelf sprocket due to off the shelf mass produced sprockets being manufactured in large batches on machines set up for this purpose.
Below are the estimated costs of special sprockets (prices include VAT but not Postage)
Manufacture of gearbox & engine sprockets £50+
Manufacture of gearbox sprockets with offsets £60+
Manufacture of small to medium sized basic flat rear sprockets £45+
Manufacture of medium sized basic flat rear sprockets £60+
Manufacture of larger sized basic flat rear sprockets £80+
Manufacture of dished and offset rear sprockets £75+
Retoothing gearbox & engine sprockets £50+
Retoothing drum sprockets and other larger sprockets £65+
We do not have a retail counter, so if you wish to visit us, please call first, so that we can make sure that there will be somebody free to discuss your enquiry.
